Officer Charged With Murder In Antwon Rose Homicide

30-year-old Officer Michael Rosfeld, the officer that shot and killed 17-year-old Antwon Rose last week, was charged with the teen’s murder on Wednesday (June 27). Surveillance video of the drive-by shooting that led to Rosfeld pulling over a car that Rose was in shows that the teen was not the shooter in the incident.

Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala called Rosfeld’s actions “an intentional act, and it was done recklessly, and there is no justification for it.” He added that Rose didn’t pose a threat as he ran from the vehicle, stating, “Rose shows his hands, turns and runs. He is not in possession of a weapon.”

Following the incident, Rosfeld was inconsistent about why he fired at the teen. He first said that he saw something black that looked like a gun, and then he said he didn’t see a gun, and the third time, Rosfeld said he was unsure.

Rosfeld has since posted bail, but his currently on house arrest.
